About
As a long time lover of fabric and anything crafty, much of my life (even before I was an adult) has been spent making things. After knitting, crocheting, even ceramics, I found my true love in fabric — the textures, the colors the patterns. When I’m having a stressful day, a walk through a fabric store, which usually ends in buying something I most likely don’t need, soothes my soul. A walk through the many fabric bins in my home do the same.
What to do with all this fabric? Share the crafty things my daughter Kate and I make with them with you and hopefully inspire ways for you to fall in love with fabric or do something with the bins of fabric in your home too.
In 2020, a return to crafting has been a panacea for an otherwise crazy time. Take the time to learn a new craft or revisit an old one. From craft fairs to eBay and Etsy, we’ve done it all — bookbinding and other art forms, textile art and more — the common thread through it all has been fabric.
We’re here to share our projects, successes and challenges, as well as the inspiration behind the fabrics, techniques we’ve learned along the way and just some things about who we are. Come along for the ride with us. We promise it will be fun!
Iris & Lily is our business, which is currently in an evolution phase. The name represents my two favorite flowers and a special link to my parents.
